19.What is Henna? ▶
A. Henna is a coloring agent or dye extracted from the plant Lawsonia inermis. Natural henna consists of a tannin dye, lawsone, which produces a red-orange color when applied. Natural henna is low in causing allergic reactions. However, some cases reported redness and swelling with the henna application. Henna has been used to create a temporary tattoo because the stains don’t go deep into the skin. Also, there isn’t a risk of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) or hepatitis infection. Henna has been traditionally used for body decorating in Islamic and Hindu cultures.

20. How Long Does Natural Henna Last on Your Skin? ▶
A. The henna stain would last anywhere between a few days to weeks, depending on the area where you are applying and the number of times you expose the area to water. The color then fades away gradually.

For example:

o If you apply it on the back of the hands or tops of the feet, the color will last nearly 2 weeks but will fade away if you wash your hands a lot.

o If you apply it on the forehead, cheeks, noses, lips, ears, scalps, and necks, the stain will last a few days to a week.

o If you use it on the shoulder, chest, back, buttock, back, belly, and upper arm, the stain will last for 7-10 days.

o If you apply it on thighs, lower legs, and lower arms, the stains will last 10 days to 2 weeks.

The stains wouldn’t last long if you:

o Are elderly

o Swim frequently

o Exfoliate regularly

21. What are some of the ways to remove henna stains? ▶
A. Henna stains fade away completely within a few days or weeks. If you wish to remove the stains, you should:

For example:

o Exfoliate with a scrub.

o Use antibacterial soap and warm water.

o Soak your hands in salt water.

22. Who should not apply Chemical Henna? ▶
A. Applying Chemical Black And Red henna should not be encouraged in the following population:

o People with hypersensitivity.

o People with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency (a condition causing red blood cells to break down in response to certain medication, infections, or other stresses)

o Children.

o Pregnant women.

o Previous allergy to henna.

23.What are the other uses of Henna? ▶
A. There is insufficient evidence about henna being useful in the following condition:

o Hair color.

o Hair dyes.

o Dye for textiles.

It is not advised to ingest henna for its purported effects on gut health.

24. Is Black henna approved in the Australia? ▶
A. In Australia , the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved its use in hair dyes only. FDA has not approved any direct application of henna to the skin. As henna isn’t regulated in Australia, there are chances of adulterating henna with coal-tar dye, such as p-phenylenediamine (PPD), to make black henna. There have been various reports about PPD causing allergic reactions in people. Hence, it is advisable not to apply black, blue, or colored chemical henna on your skin because it can have adverse effects.

Guests / Family Henna Information

Hourly Guest Henna

Approx. 19–20 simple strip Arabic designs can be completed in one hour.

Freestyle guest henna usually takes 2–3 mins per side.

Medium/heavy designs are charged per hand, not hourly as these styles require more time and detailed work.

If you are working within a specific budget, please let us know or discuss this with us before the booking date. On the day, if guests request custom designs from their phones or request henna on 2–4 sides, we may accommodate them, but this will increase both the required time and total cost. If preferred, you may instruct us beforehand to strictly provide:

  • One hand, one side only
  • Two sides only per guest
  • Freestyle designs only
  • No custom designs from phones
  • No design choices from guest albums

We also have guest henna design albums available, which we can bring along on request. Your guests may choose designs from the album if you would like to offer them options and if budget allows. Otherwise, we usually provide freestyle designs, which take approximately 3-4 minutes per side.

Important Timing Rules

  • Time starts from my arrival at your location.
  • Delays from your side still count within booked time and it will be charged as well.
  • Extensions are only in 30 mins or 1 hr blocks.
  • Guests must wait for one side to dry before second side.

Delays by Guests

If guests take time removing jewellery, choosing designs, transitioning, etc., this may reduce the number of hand designs completed. We are not responsible for delays caused by guests.

Budget Tip

If you have a limited budget, please discuss beforehand. Otherwise, requests for complex designs or extra sides on the day may increase time and cost.

Two Artists Available

For large events, a second henna artist may be available. Separate hourly/per-hand charges and travel fees apply.

Outdoor Bookings

If booking outdoors during winter:

  • Please arrange a portable heater
  • Inform me in advance so I can dress warmly accordingly
  • Indoor setup is preferred in windy/cold/rainy weather

Cold hands affect speed of henna application and comfort.

Additional Notes

  • White henna, Instant black/red henna available only if requested during booking & cost extra.
  • Kids usually receive instant henna (washable in 10 mins) as they can't keep it for longer time.
  • I am very scared of cats and dogs — please keep pets in another room during services.
